If you sailed out of Port Canaveral, check out the restaurants on the south side. I’m partial to Grills myself but there are several. I love about 5 miles south of the port in Cocoa Beach.

Was it bearable? I know this is in my future as my wife has never been on a cruise and we’ve got a 5 month old daughter. I was on a cruise right after high school, it was cool then but I don’t think I’d wan to do it again until I’m old.

Did you contract scruvy or other pirate diseases?

The suspension  was pretty floaty, almost as if it were riding on water.

1. We did have a stormy night with waves pounding on the ship and causing shocks that transmitted right through our cabin. Every strike felt and sounded like a small car was bumping into our cabin. I think the waves were triggering a harmonic frequency of the ship’s inner structural beams.  This was the same night the kids had a pool deck party with fireworks.  It was awful in a glorious way.

2. Aside from the above, the cabins are well isolated from one another. However, the doors let in a lot of noise from the hallways (and let a lot of noise out into the hallways, if that matters to you).

3. Due to #1, we did get slightly seasick. Our kid ended up hurling once. Having a room in the middle of the ship definitely felt better than sitting in the restaurant out at the stern with the ship pitching and rolling.

Fortunately, I was not on the Disney Mustang GT . I’m surprised they were allowed to be this sloppy.

It’s better done with friends than alone. Although we didn’t have friends with us, there was enough going on to keep us entertained with and without kids.

It really depends on what you like for entertainment. If you can’t stand not having access to nature and the outdoors, you’ll hate it unless you like  the ports- of- call . If you’re OK with being confined to a couple blocks of city downtown with decent entertainment but no escape for a few days, then cruises are actually a great way to spend time. For example, Disney’s shows are top-notch and I couldn’t believe I was watching something of that calibre on a boat.

Not sure about other cruise lines, but DCL lets you leave your kids in a secured kids’ centre for any length of time with various curated activities, until midnight. They also have an extra-charge nursery for infants.
